Getting Rid of Negative and Intrusive Thoughts

01. Clear Negative Thoughts Frequently

Get rid of negative thoughts through frequent meditation.

Especially if you find yourself battling negative thoughts and emotions that feel out of control.

Meditation helps you slow down all your thoughts, get rid of negative thoughts, and choose which thoughts to think,

During meditation practice, you slow your mind’s activity down. Then, you’re able to watch your thoughts as an observer and decide which thoughts to allow and which thoughts to replace.

How to Control Your Thoughts and Emotions ⟶

Imagine your mind as your home:

  • Do you keep it clean?

  • Do you get rid of unnecessary and unwanted items?

  • Do you decorate it with intention?

  • Do you allow unwanted visitors to come in?

Filter negative thoughts and question them:

  • Does this thought support me?

  • Is this a thought the version of me who has my desire would think?

  • What would the version of me who has my desire be thinking?

02. Consumption vs. Creation

Imagine bringing items into your home every single day and never removing them or deciding ever what exactly to keep.

That is what we do to our minds when we only constantly take in information instead of consciously creating.

  • What are you consuming too much of?

  • How does what you consume make you feel?

  • What creations are you avoiding by consuming instead?

Clutter is postponed decisions.
— Barbara Hemphill

03. Conscious Decisions

The more we postpone decisions, the larger the pile grows until we’re completely overwhelmed.

When we leave things undone, incomplete, and half-efforted, it adds to the unwanted mental clutter.

What are the characteristics of the version of you that has what you desire?

What habits does the version of you that has what you desire have?

What thoughts does the version of you that has your desire think?
